Description

The following vehicle weapons are missing muzzle flashes, and should have them introduced:

- KPVT on the BRDM-2. Seeing as this is the largest calibre non-cannon machine gun out there, I'd imagine it'd have a spectacular muzzle flash.

- 2A42 on the BMP-2, BTR-90 and Vodnik BPPU. It's a cannon. Hell yeah it's going to have a muzzle flash.

- 2A72 on the BMP-3. See above.

- M242 on the LAV. See 2A42.

Would be nice to get these going. Currently it is very difficult to locate any of the above vehicles at night when they fire their non-flashing weapons, for obvious reasons.

Heh, sorry mate, just like being thorough.

Muzzle flashes are also missing from the following:

- GSh 30-1 on the Su-34.

- GAU12 on the F35 and Harriers.

- GAU8 on the A10 (which almost defies belief).

How is it with OA?

Same. Autocannons/large caliber MGs have no muzzle flash (neither texture animation or illuminating light source) in OA.

I'm pretty sure the texture animation can be added in the model & config, but I think the lack of illuminating light source is an engine issue. I already made a ticket about it about a month ago: #11648

You'll notice that the autocannons are configured very similarly to regular machineguns (which do produce light). The primary difference here is which memory points they use for muzzle start & end positions. What's odd is that these typically are the same memory points used for tank guns, which also produce light, but these weapons use a different simulation than MGs. So it would appear that this combination of "bullet" simulation & main gun memory points will not produce a light source.

I could probably do some testing to see if this is the case or not.

Well it is up to you if the topic is of interest.

If we can provide BI with solutions, obviously the chances
are way higher to see something fixed/sorted.
