Download and play

Why is CAA1 such a large download?

After all CAA1 contains all ArmA I worlds, its objects and some units
and full Queen's Gambit data disk.

If you want do use ArmA community worlds in ArmA II use, the CAA1 - ArmA - ObjectsOnly - YASDLS

Some ArmA community worlds need Queen's Gambit object files instead or in addition.
Get them via the CAA1 - QB - ObjectsOnly - YASDLS or the Queen's Gambit objects only installer.

If you don't mind, download the complete package from CAA1 - Full - ClassicPlants - YASDLS

How to download and install CAA1?

Please check the official guide.

Why so many modfolders?

People want different packages. Only this structure makes this feasible.
Use a launcher tool to easily load all/your desired set of CAA1 modfolders.

I have missing buildings and lots of errors with CAA1.

Make sure to NOT to have a semicolon at the end of your modfolder line.
See How to start CAA1

I want the standard ArmA green vegetation.

Read PlantsClassic.

Why use Yoma Addon Sync for download?

YAS makes updating a child's play. You can choose from different packages.
It needs once the effort to understand the tool, it will save you this time
ten times in the long run.

Why the modfolder "x"?

  1. x is easy to reach on the keyboard.
  2. A sub level keeps the main .\arma2\ folder clean.

ArmA I addons in ArmA II

Are you thinking about ArmA I addon compatibility?

CAA1 plus the OAC core make any ArmA I addon usable in ArmA II with no or less config changes.

  • Worlds will benefit from the now available object sets.
  • Vehicles and weapons should work most of the time fine or with little issues.
  • Infantry addons will not work. These need more work.

The message on game start-up about wrong version can be ignored without worry.

Downloaded CAA1 before?

What now?

Simple approach

Remove your existing CAA1 install and download it again.

Update via Yoma Addon Sync

Choose one of the new CAA1 servers, make a sync and download the missing files.
The tool will only download new files and copy the existing to the new location.

Take note that the latest version has a different structure with more modfolders.
Make sure to update your modline.

You can delete all files in .\arma2\x\caa1\addons\* once you have the latest version.

The CAA1 YAS server is no longer available?

If you use the first CAA1 YAS server with this URL:

http://caa1.arma-creations.com/yas/caa1/caa1.7z

Read the note above this one and select a new CAA1 YAS server.

Missions and campaigns

What missions work - OFP/ArmA I mission compatibility?

Basically any OFP or ArmA I mission/campaign works with OAC + CAA1/OFPIP.
If not file a ticket in the OAC project.
Make sure to attach the mission and RPT and describe the problem bullet point like.

Where to find missions? How to make missions work?

Please head for the OAC project space.
The OAC project is about mission and campaign conversions.

Do I have to modify mission.sqm of a ArmA I mission to be able to load it in editor?

No. As long as you have the latest OAC_core.pbo loaded, it should work out of the box.
If not, please file a report in the OAC issue tracker.
